I decided a few weeks ago to start the Fashion Design program at Algonquin College. The only pre-requisite for the night courses is a sewing class that began two weeks ago. So far, it has been really fun! I was unsure about being in a single class all day, but the time flies, and I am learning new techniques each class.
Our first assignment is to make a pair of pyjama pants for ourselves. I bought a cornflower blue floral print cotton that was on sale, and it is washed and ready to be ironed...

Sugar High!
I have been continuously eating so much candy today that I have not had time to crash from the excess sugar! One of the groups in art history/visual culture passed around kebabs of gummy bears and swedish fish. Twice. We had a few timbits in creative practices/3-D class. Let me clarify that - everyone in class had one. By 'we', I mean Maria and I. By 'a few', I mean about seven each. At least, I stopped counting at seven...
I wake up every morning to a steamy window, and crank it open to see the misty hills across the valley. Just lovely. I will do my best to appreciate the beauty around me. It has rained all day, and the wind comes in great gusts - the kind that make you realize you are in Newfoundland. I miss the brilliant sunlight of Ontario. That crisp autumn glow that makes all of nature look like a Vermeer painting.
P.S. As soon as I can, I will start posting pictures of my daily exploits.

First blog post/Hooray for care packages!
Let me just state for the record - this is for you, Mom. I know everyone and their grandmother has a blog in this day and age, but I am still attempting one - for my mother's sake. So, here I go...
I had a pretty kick-ass day! (sorry Mom, I did) I didn't have drawing class until 12:30pm, so I hung out in my room, and tried to keep up with my sketching. Then the doorbell rang. I looked out the window to see a postal truck, someone got the door, and low and behold - it was for me! Select members of my fabulous extended family in Belleville had packed up a big box of chocolate, yarn and handmade goodies. Talk about making my day, week and month! I love you ladies...
